Programs like ChatGPT, Dall-E 2, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, VTubers, Soundraw, and Replica Studios– to name a few–have introduced new ways to generate images, videos, text, audio, and even human-like voices. Although these innovative platforms have transformed the digital marketing world, it has raised concerns about whether AI will replace existing marketing jobs.

Our short answer is: yes. AI will not necessarily replace marketing jobs, as there is still a need for actual human capability, creativity, and consciousness. Despite this, AI platforms will streamline existing processes like copywriting, data analysis, basic customer service, video and image design, etc.

What's in it for marketers?

AI platforms have created valuable opportunities to increase efficiency across the marketing landscape. That means marketers can–and should–leverage emerging AI tools to improve and expedite their services. For example, creatives can use image and video-based AI tools to produce quick visualizations or text-based programs to generate initial copy to support their real, human idea generation and design skills.

How can AI help you?

AI might not take your job, but those who utilize it more effectively than you will. While the explosion of AI-based tools has made it increasingly difficult to ignore, refusal to adopt these impactful tools within a quick enough timeline may prove detrimental to many businesses and employees. The AI expert and co-founder of Google Brain, Andrew Ng, stated, “Artificial intelligence is the new electricity.” Modern marketers should leverage AI to increase overall efficiency, gain deeper insights into consumer behavior, and make data-driven decisions.
